Each cup is handmade and will vary slightly in shape, weight, and glaze coverage. These are not flaws—they’re part of the charm and individuality of the piece.

Each copita begins as slip-cast stoneware, poured into a handmade mold and then trimmed and stamped by hand. The stamped sunburst or agave motif is placed in the inside base of the cup while the clay is still soft, and preserved through firing.
Our goal is to craft a vessel that feels good in the hand, that sits quietly on an altar or table, and that holds more than just liquid—it holds intention.
These copitas are part of our Copitas de Mezcal collection, made by Sarah Welch Pottery, a family-run studio based in the rural town of Jaroso, Colorado. We work with clay from start to finish—mixing, forming, glazing, and firing everything ourselves.
Each piece reflects our belief that everyday objects should be as beautiful as they are useful. Whether you’re sharing a pour with friends or setting an altar for yourself, we hope these cups invite stillness, reverence, and joy.

As with all handmade pottery, variations in size, glaze tone, and stamp placement are expected and celebrated. No two copitas are exactly alike, but all are food-safe, durable, and made with care.
