Handmade stoneware mezcal copitas set with two round cups and a matching hand-stamped tray, finished in a glossy glaze. Crafted as a tasting set. Slip casted in Colorado.
Honor the tradition, flavor, and ceremony of mezcal with this handmade stoneware copitas set, featuring two finely crafted tasting cups and a complementary serving tray. Glazed in a rich finish with hand-stamped detailing, this three-piece set is designed to evoke the spirit of mezcal’s cultural roots while offering the durability and beauty of artisan pottery.
This set reflects the timeless Oaxacan ritual of serving mezcal in shallow, wide-mouthed copitas—a form that allows the smoky complexity of the spirit to open and evolve. Whether you’re hosting a tasting, gifting a collector, or creating a personal ritual, these pieces help you bring a meaningful sense of occasion to every pour.
Each Copita: ~1.5 inches tall × 2.75 inches wide
Capacity: ~2 oz – the ideal pour for mezcal, sotol, or artisanal spirits
Serving Tray: ~7 inches long × 4 inches wide × 0.5 inches tall
The tray is designed to hold both copitas with space for accompaniments like orange slices, sal de gusano (agave worm salt), or chilies—a nod to how mezcal is traditionally served in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Stamped Tray: Tray features a hand-stamped motif, offering a tactile, personal touch
Microwave Safe: Yes
Dishwasher Safe: Yes
Lead- & Cadmium-Free: Yes

Mezcal & Sotol Tastings: Use the copitas to fully experience the aroma, smoke, and terroir of small-batch spirits
Serving Rituals: Accompany each pour with orange wedges, chili powder, or traditional salts on the tray
Bar Display: Leave the set out on a drink cart or shelf—beautiful enough to double as decor
Altar or Intention Setting: For those who use mezcal ceremonially, the handmade form lends presence and meaning to each use

Each copita and tray is created in our small-batch Colorado studio using a refined slip casting process. Our own clay slip is poured into custom molds, then carefully removed, trimmed, and shaped by hand. The tray is hand-stamped with a unique motif before all three pieces are bisque fired.
Our made-in-house glaze is then applied by hand, resulting in rich, varied surfaces that catch light and highlight the texture of the form. The final glaze firing at over 2,200°F locks in durability, making these pieces water-tight, food-safe, and perfectly suited for both special occasions and daily use.
This set never touches commercial glazes or outsourced production—everything is made under one roof by our family-run team, from clay mixing to final packing.
This mezcal copita set is part of our Copitas de Mezcal and Hidden Garden Pots collections, crafted by Sarah Welch Pottery, a small family studio in Jaroso, Colorado. Nestled in the quiet plains of the San Luis Valley, we focus on creating functional heirloom pottery for ritual, celebration, and everyday use.

Each set is handmade, and slight variations in glaze tone, surface texture, and size are to be expected. These differences are not defects, but the marks of human touch—and part of what makes each set a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
